Independent nurseries usually grow part of their own stock and carry varieties suited to the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Plant shops focus on houseplants, succulents and orchids, often with repotting help. Greenhouses and growers sell seedlings and bedding plants in spring, and many offer wholesale prices to landscapers. Landscape designers plan planting beds, patios and irrigation, and some garden centers offer design and installation services as well.

Dartmouth is in Massachusetts, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Dartmouth follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I called and left a message twice within a month and never got a response. I believe it was because I was asking about moving a rock that I bought, and I guess they couldn’t be bothered. Best, Russ

I have ordered plants online from Avant Gardens several times this year and every shipment has exceeded my expectations. The plants have all been healthy and in wonderful condition. They have also been expertly packed. Avant offers some unusual, hard to find plants as well as the familiar stalwarts. I very highly recommend them!
